The original Bluenose was launched in Lunenburg in 1921 and quickly became a legend. Built as a Grand Banks fishing schooner, she also proved unbeatable on the racecourse, defending the International Fishermen's Trophy against American challengers for nearly two decades. Her speed, grace, and the skill of Captain Angus Walters made her a source of immense national pride—so much so that her image has graced the Canadian dime since 1937.

Bluenose II was built in 1963 as a tribute to her famous predecessor, constructed in the same Lunenburg shipyard using the original plans. After a comprehensive rebuild completed in 2012, she continues to serve as Nova Scotia's sailing ambassador, promoting Maritime heritage and keeping the age of sail alive for new generations. From June through September, visitors can join harbour cruises or explore the deck during public tours.

Lunenburg itself is a fitting home port. This historic town, founded in 1753, boasts one of the best-preserved examples of British colonial settlement in North America. Its colourful waterfront, traditional shipbuilding heritage, and working fishing wharves earned UNESCO World Heritage designation in 1995. Whether you're watching Bluenose II glide into harbour, exploring the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, or simply strolling the historic streets, Lunenburg offers an authentic window into Nova Scotia's seafaring soul.

Baddeck is the gateway to the world-famous Cabot Trail and the heart of Cape Breton Island. This charming village stretches along the shores of Bras d'Or Lake—a vast inland sea designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve—where sailboats glide past forested hills and eagles soar overhead. The downtown blooms with colour from spring through autumn, earning Baddeck the prestigious Five Blooms award in 2008, the highest honour in Canada's Communities in Bloom program.

Alexander Graham Bell fell in love with this landscape in 1885, declaring it reminded him of his native Scotland. He built his estate, Beinn Bhreagh (Gaelic for "beautiful mountain"), on the headland across the harbour, where he conducted groundbreaking experiments in flight, marine engineering, and communication until his death in 1922. Today, the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site showcases his remarkable legacy through interactive exhibits and artifacts.

From the Government Wharf, visitors can catch boat tours of the Bras d'Or, kayak the sheltered waters, or simply watch the harbour come alive with fishing boats and pleasure craft. With its blend of natural beauty, rich history, and warm Maritime hospitality, Baddeck offers an unforgettable Cape Breton experience.

The Armdale Roundabout, officially known as the Armdale Rotary, is one of Halifax's most iconic and busiest traffic intersections.

Origins & Construction

The Armdale Rotary was constructed in 1955 as part of Halifax's post-war infrastructure expansion. It was designed to manage the convergence of five major roads: Chebucto Road and Quinpool Road from the Halifax Peninsula, Herring Cove Road and St. Margaret's Bay Road from the Chebucto Peninsula, and Joseph Howe Drive.

Traffic Volume

Today, the roundabout handles approximately 60,000 vehicles per weekday, making it one of the busiest intersections in Atlantic Canada. It has earned a reputation among locals as both a rite of passage for new drivers and a source of both frustration and dark humor.

Insurance & Footage Requests

Due to the high traffic volume, accidents occur frequently at this location. If you've been involved in an incident here, we can provide footage upon request for insurance purposes.
