Located in the heart of Halifax’s historic waterfront, there’s no better place to immerse yourself in Nova Scotia’s rich maritime heritage than the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. From small craft boatbuilding to World War Convoys, the Days of Sail to the Age of Steam, the Titanic to the Halifax Explosion, you’ll discover the stories, events and people that have come to define Nova Scotia and its relationship with the sea.

The Halifax Waterfront is both a picturesque destination – and Nova Scotia’s most visited location. Sparkling water, a thriving downtown business core, a working port and harbour traffic combine to make this a natural meeting point for locals and tourists.

Waterfront Development aims to harness the potential of our unique waterfront resources by maximizing public access to the water’s edge and creating memorable spaces and experiences that enrich Nova Scotia’s cultural and economic opportunities year-round.

Argyle Street is the beating heart of Halifax's nightlife and entertainment scene. This historic cobblestone stretch in downtown Halifax has evolved from a Victorian-era commercial corridor into the city's most vibrant gathering place, lined with pubs, restaurants, cocktail bars, and live music venues. On any given evening, you'll find locals and visitors spilling onto patios, laughter echoing off the heritage buildings, and the unmistakable energy of a city that knows how to have a good time.

The street's character is defined by its eclectic mix of establishments. The Carleton hosts some of the best local and touring musicians in an intimate listening room. Durty Nelly's, The Split Crow, and countless other pubs carry on Halifax's proud tradition as a port city where sailors, students, and professionals have gathered for centuries. In summer, the Argyle Street pedestrian plaza comes alive with outdoor dining, buskers, and festivals.

Just steps away, the Halifax City Hall and Grand Parade square anchor the civic heart of the city, while the nearby Halifax Central Library and waterfront boardwalk are a short stroll. Whether you're catching a concert, savouring craft cocktails, or simply people-watching on a warm summer night, Argyle Street captures the spirit of Halifax at its liveliest.
