Sambro Harbour
Overlooking Sambro Harbour towards Crystal Crescent Beach
Nestled on the Chebucto Peninsula about 30 minutes south of Halifax, Sambro is one of Nova Scotia's most historic fishing communities. The harbour is home to the Sambro Island Lighthouse—the oldest operating lighthouse in the Americas, guiding mariners since 1758. The community's roots trace back to 1755 when 26 families first settled on Sambro Island.
Today, Sambro retains its authentic maritime character with an active fishing fleet and stunning coastal scenery. Nearby Crystal Crescent Beach offers pristine white sand and hiking trails, while the rugged shoreline provides endless opportunities for photography and wildlife watching. This webcam looks out from Bald Rock across the harbour, capturing the ever-changing Atlantic weather and the timeless rhythm of a Nova Scotia fishing village.
